Talk:Yet another draft
From MWCSWiki
This is the University of Pittsburgh
This was one of the schools I looked at for Information System Major and where I got the idea of different concentrations within the IS (way back in my first outline not even on the wiki)
The have a good foundation of courses and they make a connection between the computer discpline and the cognate. They also limit this to three areas Information Systems, User Centered Design, and Network Security.
The posted however does not show that and really does not show how the three areas are divided, here is what they have listed
Core Courses:
Introduction to Information Science Intro to Object-Oriented Programming: JAVA I Telecommunications Database Management Systems Human Factors Information Systems Analysis & Design
Concentrations:
Information Systems enables students to use object-oriented design tools to design, build, implement, and test web-based information systems. Courses:JAVA II, Object Oriented Design, GIS,Enterprise Systems, Architecture and OS, Web Services
User Centered Design provides the visual and human-computer interaction skills needed to design and build prototypes of information systems interfaces, as well as to perform usability testing of these systems. Courses:User Centered Design, Visualization, Web Programming, Graphics
Networks and Security offers skills needed to design, build and test LANS, WANS, Wireless, Internet and Web-based networks. Courses: Networks II, Computer Security, Wireless, Mobile Applications.
