- Assessment tools. Do we want a test or are we happy with portfolios, exit interviews, etc. Do we think it is important to have an outside data point? People seem to be ready to move on. Ernie says we should examine the portfolio option. Ernie thinks that we should do exit interviews next year.
- Marsha asks if we decide our outcome assessment is an alumni survey every four years and exit interviews the others years is that okay?
- Marsha says we don't do pre-test and post-test. So we can't show growth.
- Stephen asks how do we measure the business parts like whether they can do accounting. Since we don't have knowledge of this area this would be hard to do. How do we assess courses outside our area?
- Perhaps we could approach the exit interview as a job interview--ask questions that a job interviewer would - write a C++ function to reverse a linked list, etc.
- Regarding CIS, there was discussion about how to evaluate economics topics.
- Regarding remodel of labs, the general feeling is that the remodel is a failure. People keep pulling out connections. The tables are poor -- the cords are too easy to pull out. When tables are moved the cables are pulled out. Ernie suggests that perhaps we can go wireless. So who do we need to talk to to improve the situation. The lab people from IT - we will ask them for suggested solutions.
- Goals for next year.
- Ernie suggests getting a good outcomes assessment method. evaluating portfolios
- Increasing community outreach.
